Hello Doc. Hope your doing well. Wanted to ask if you think the current flu vaccine thats out could aggrevate tinnitus. They say it doesn't contain all the preservatives the previous years vaccine.

Also, have you heard if any testing has ever been done using botox to help with tinnitus?

I cannot see how the flu vaccine could possibly aggravate tinnitus - even with all the preservatives of previous years. I myself have never hesitated to take the vaccine. People can die from the flu!

I read that the flu shot contains some antibiotic gentamycin, isn't this one of the antibiotics we are supposed to avoid.  By the way I just got one and read about gentamycin afterwards. Hoping for the best.

No worries. Aminoglycoside ototoxicity is dose-related. A 0.5 cc flu shot contains <0.00015 mg of gentamicin, which is nowhere near enough to have even the most remote chance of affecting your auditory system.
