Hello Manny -

I am sorry to read that you are having so much difficulty.

In my opinion what you need more than anything else is a proper evaluation performed by a healthcare professional who is both knowledgeable and experienced in the assessment and treatment of individuals suffering from severe intrusive tinnitus. The issues you raise in your post are too complex for me to responsibly offer any sort of reliable guidance here on this board.

What is the nearest large city to your home? Perhaps I know of somebody who can help!

You say that you are from the Philippines. Are you in the Philippines now?

Manny, I wish I had some definitive advice for you - but without the benefit of a proper evaluation I am really at a loss. And I just do not know where to point you in the Philippines. I am not going to post the audiograms you sent me because they really do not help. I could make some suggestions in Singapore, for instance, but the Philippines is along distance from there.

Perhaps we should look at it differently.

Let me ask you three questions ...
  • You wrote in your initial post that your tinnitus is "so strong im going crazy." Are you actually going crazy or is it just that these days you really feel horrible?
  • You wrote in your initial post that you "cant think straight my tinnitus is killing my concentraiin." Is your tinnitus actually killing your concentration or is it just that these days it is more difficult to concentrate because you feel horrible?
  • You wrote in your initial post that you are "fighting at my life." Are you actually fighting for your life or is it just that these days you are having a difficult time because you feel horrible?

Manny, I would like to help you in some meaningful way, but I cannot do so if you are unable to help me!

Please go back to my three questions in Post #6. I am not looking for an explanation. All I want to know is whether the problem is your tinnitus or how your tinnitus makes you feel. There is a huge difference between the two. So kindly go back to those three questions and try to answer them. Each one is an "either or" question.

Thank you for answering my three questions, Manny.

I have only one more question, and based upon how you answer that question, I may have a very specific suggestion for you. Here is the question: If there were a free pill that had absolutely no side-effects and that would not change your tinnitus at all, but would make you stop feeling horrible because of your tinnitus, would you be a lot better off taking the pill than you are now even though you would still have tinnitus? Yes or No?

You do not have a choice about whether or not you have tinnitus - but you absolutely do have a choice about whether or not the tinnitus that you have makes you feel horrible.

Since you have limited funds and limited access, I suggest you start by reading my Letter to a Tinnitus Sufferer and then use the letter as an introduction to The Henry and Wilson Book, which you can download for free HERE.

All the best with it.

Yes. In fact I myself have hearing loss, and my tinnitus sounds like a cross between a roaring jet turbine and a screaming teakettle. Nothing masks it, I can even hear it while in the Maid of the Mist boat at the foot of Niagara Falls. CLICK HERE

That's how my tinnitus is today. 24/7. It's been like that for more than 20 years now. In fact it pretty-much put me in bed for the better part of a year at first. CLICK HERE

What I want you to know is that my life today is far better with hearing loss and tinnitus than it ever was before hearing loss and tinnitus. It is certainly different; but it is definitely better. My tinnitus has not changed; I have - but my tinnitus is the same.

So, yes, you can get better. I have pointed you in the right direction. The rest is up to you.

All the best with it.

Stephen M. Nagler, M.D.
