Hello, Mr Nagler! Please I have a little history of my Tinnitus and pls just give me some answers what to do.For the moment I dont have money for a consultation as I dont work anymore. I m sending you photos of my tests as well. I went to different drs and spent almost everything I have left from my last job.Dont have answers still and I m desperate. I had an ear infection ( fungus or bacterial ) which was wrong treated with antibiotic ear drops. This They almost said back in my country. Plus I knew nothing about my ear drum( intact, perforated). Didnt know to ask, never had problems like this. Never heard of t. That was only in my right ear which At the beginning has been blocked for a month and a half.
When started to unblock itself I heard this sound, is like something spins or sometimes just a tone. At times is transmitted to the Other good ear and i hear a buzz Both ears along with the rotated sound. But from then I keep feeling pressure in my right ear, Felt clogged At times, specially if I m mad on something or I do something physically. And pain.Is something that can be treatable?
How can I go back and work in a classroom as there can be very noisy At times. Please so much help me as I m desperate. I had to come back home last autumn and quit my job. Thank you!

Hi Ela,
I'm a passive reader at Dr. Naglers amazing forum for a long time. But now i signed in to reply to you (even Dr. Nagler will kill me perhaps, as this forum is not meant in this way😉.
But my situation seems/seemed very similar to yours. As you, i am a teacher. I got T in autumn 2017. I had to quit my job too, because of the extreme lack of sleep and i was as desperate as you are now, i think. I even wasn't able to go out for buying food. I was a wreck.
Now i am (with great help of Dr. Nagler, even he never heard of me) in a MUCH better place. I just came back from playing football with friends after having some nice lessons with my classes. I can clearly hear my T when driving my car with 100 mph on the german autobahn with the radio on. But this does not matter, your reaction matters.
But i think Dr. Nagler is the better person to tell you, just wanted to show you some light at the end of the tunnel.

You will do this Ela!
Roland

PS: A big "THANK YOU" to Dr. Nagler for being such a great help for such a long time, not knowing that he was and is my light at the end of the tunnel

Thank you both so much for your replies! I really hope Iguana that I will pass through. I m still so afraid. Specially coz I m from România and here They know so little about t. I so wish to have around me people with same things now, look.. people like you! I was working as an International teacher in Doha for 2 years in a kindergarten. I so liked abroad. And I had a contract in China after. There happened everything, even my ear infection was from Doha, coz of the clime over there. In China those dr checked my ear looking inside of It But No tests. I think I have changed 4 drs there keep telling them that my ear is still clogged and They WERE keep giving me ear drops. After 10 days I quit and come back in Ro.
I so wish to ever be able to come back in my work field. I liked Asia, Even I had an offer for special education in South Carolina. I know is not the best part of the States, probably for this reason They take teachers from abroad.:) My fields are special education, kindergarten and primary, school counselor , speech therapy. I was thinking to the last 2 as maybe is a quiter field to work on.
But God is so weird to live with this noise, Like this. Coz sometimes when are noises around me I feel mine becoming louder. This is my biggest fear, what if will become louder and louder.
Mr Nagler WAS ABOUT MY LEFT EAR. The one blocked and with problems. Sorry for the confusion. Wait so much your answer. I m willing to make everything to feel better.
There for the hopes! Best wishes!!

Ela, I have looked at all of your studies and reviewed them with a colleague as well.

I have also read your two posts carefully a number of times and clearly understand your misery, fear, and frustration.

Let's take this slowly ...

In one sentence please tell me what is your single most important concern.

Stephen M. Nagler, M.D.

To accommodate or get rid of the noise, I was thinking that there can be something that can be fixed. My dr here gave me aerosols with dexamethasone and gentamicin, saying that By my tests my pressure in my RIGHT ear is too high and needs to be fixed. I did few and I didnt notice any important change, more than this sometimes I felt my left ear, the one with problems, more clogged, pressure and pain inside of It. They even told me that I could have some noise sensitivity because of some high rates of some frequencies on my audiogram. And I wasnt aware of It until I paid more attention to my ears.
For my job I can even look for some online classes abroad and to accommodate myself in a small office working with few children.
Dr. Nagler my biggest concern is to accommodate or get rid of the noise, to led a normal life with all the necessary protection.
And I m willing to make everything need It for this to happen. Just please so much help me. Thank you from my heart!

Ela, if there were something that could be fixed with the expectation that your tinnitus would disappear, my thinking is that your doctors would have told you. You have had a very thorough evaluation.

So in terms of accommodating to it, there are numerous strategies. It really depends to some extent on the individual, but that said the single best reference of know of is book by Henry and Wilson. You can read about the book and how to use it at the link below. And towards the end of the article there is another link where you can download the entire book for free.

One other thing. It seems that you have submitted your post several times. You only need to submit it once.

All the best -

Stephen M. Nagler, M.D.

Thank you very much for your words and for the information given. I will look through those materials.
I did post It more times problably. This is because the site did tell me the previous times that my post was accepted.
One more thing, this clinic in România WERE I went does TRT. But I dont know to try with them as I dont know Where they were trained. How can I found out that They are really following the TRT protocol. They are the only one in România doing this.
Thank you very much for your time and for your words!

The site will not tell you that your post has been accepted until I have actually read it and accepted it. That can take up to a couple of days as explained HERE.

The questions to ask can be found in the bulleted list towards the end of my article on TINNITUS RETRAINING THERAPY.

Thank you again for your words, Dr Nagler! I know the questions from tinnitustalk site :) If I dont have good answers to those questions, do you recomand Someone Close to my country?! Or can I come to your office for a first consultation and after see you online? If I can obtain a Visa and money for travelling. I remember one time on tinnitustalk you said that some of your clients can have the program for free if They dont work and are severe cases. Or try to have the money first.Mine is moderate to loud , more loud but the problem is that I Find It intrusive and extremly intrusive almost all the time. Disrupting my daily routine that Even after 6 months I keep asking myself How on earth I ended up having this awful afliction. I dont feel I cant relate to my friends , life I had and my connections Like anyone I know doesnt have this.
Does TRT also reduce the volume of your Tinnitus? I heard so as disrupting the wrong connection in your brain that is producing this sound.
One more thing, what are your thoughts about Lenire ( Mute Button )? I heard is about to be on the Ireland Market now on June .
Thank you again for your time!

I'm not exactly sure what questions you are talking about, Ela. I have not been on that site for almost four years.

Sorry, but I do not know anybody in or near România well enough to make a recommendation.

I am flattered that you would want to come all this way to see me, but I am retired. I still do one or two consultations a week by phone or Skype (see http://www.atlantatinnitus.com), but I no longer accept patients for treatment.

Right. Back when I was in practice I never charged folks who could not afford to pay. Tinnitus knows no socioeconomic boundaries. But like I said, I am now retired.

Many people have what you have and suffer as you suffer. I set up this board to try to answer their questions in general, and I do the telephone/Skype consultations to go into depth and make specific recommendations.

TRT does not reduce the volume of your tinnitus. TRT facilitates habituation so over time you care less and less regardless of how loud your tinnitus might be.

I have no thoughts about MuteButton one way or the other. What I have learned (the hard way) is that when something sounds too good to be true, there is usually a reason! But maybe MuteButton will be an exception. No way to know.

Thank you very much for your spot on words, Dr Nagler! Probably I will try in România first, But I m afraid as by now I know more many than them about Tinnitus. However will make a try. I know also that you will talk good words about Ms Jacqueline( Hope I wrote correctly ) in London for TRT tratement . Or think about the online consultations.
Have an Excellent day ahead!

I think you should start with the book that I recommended in Post #7 of this thread, and use it exactly as I suggested in the link.

But whatever you decide, I wish you well with it.
