I got tinnitus on October 27th, 2018, I visited ENTs, nothing very much clear as usual. Approximately 4 month into it. I believe i made myself miserable by going online and reading stories and having caught that sound. But we cannot change the past.
Correct. We cannot change the past. But you didn't make yourself miserable. It was not your fault. It just happened as the result of normal curiosity!
The Sound of my Tinnitus is low, the pitch is not too high. its kind of a buzz- I have been to ENTs and last to last year had MRI too for something else - All good, they couldn't find any hearing loss too.
So having has a thorough ENT evaluation, you know two things: (1) Whatever is causing your tinnitus, it is not one of the very few causes of tinnitus that can be fixed and in-so-doing fix your tinnitus, and (2) Whatever is causing your tinnitus, it is not one of the even fewer causes of tinnitus that represent a health threat.
The sound is easily maskable and not hearable most of the time through out my day. I have been extremely scared by the stories online
OK, but what you read on-line was written by folks who are having a difficult time with their tinnitus. The vast majority of folks with tinnitus do just fine. The tinnitus either fades on its own over time, or they accommodate to it over time.
1- It can remain for my entire life - And I am fine with that fact, I am not a perfectionist.
It might go away. It might remain. But even if it remains, you can become largely oblivious to it over time. Yes, even if it is very loud!
2- Habituation means the emotional response to the tinnitus overtime becomes weaker and weaker and personal habituates emotionally to the tinnitus
Habituation of reaction involves far more than an emotional response. The autonomic nervous system plays a major role. Likely other systems are involved as well.
(ofcourse this doesn't mean the habituation of perception)
Habituation of perception is a misnomer. 100% of habituation is about reaction.
I just wish to reach Habituation of Emotions.
Habituation is a process, not a state.
But i have heard or read from online forums that some people's Brain cannot get habituated [This is the thought that scares me the most, People on online forums make it sound soooooo dreadful, it scares me that i might fall in this line :( even though i don't want to].
Everybody habituates to some degree or other.
3- I try to use partial masking in the night as i read from you neither too loud nor too silent is good for the brain (but i do not want to rely on maskers for my life)
There is nothing wrong with masking if it achieves the relief you desire.
4- Is there anything I can do to get habituated ( i know it can take upto 18 months in normal cases)
Since habituation is a natural process, in my opinion the most important thing anybody can do is remove his or her barriers to habituation. CLICK HERE
5 - I do not have my tinnitus a lot (somehow) does it mean habituation for me will take time.
I have learned never to put a calendar on these things.
6- The Sound usually isn't usually bothersome(sometimes yes it is) but somehow I am still bothered by Tinnitus somewhere, i usually try to assume its the sound of the brain, but i am still bothered by it - Do you think something is wrong with me?
