Dr. Nagler, the ringing in my ears has escalated as of late and I am in hopes of there being someone capable enough to help in Nebraska.  I live about an hour from the Kansas border in the center of the state.  Omaha and Lincoln are the two major cities.  They are 100 to 150 miles away.  Any chance of someone qualified in either of those two cities?  If not, where might be the closest?  Need to find something.  thank you for your time.  Kim

Kim, there are any number of people around who call themselves TRT clinicians. And as you can read in my article Tinnitus Retraining Therapy, some are quite capable and some are definitely not-so-good. Therefore, in terms of a personal recommendation I have purposely set very stringent criteria - because when I give a recommendation, I feel that my own reputation is on the line. Thus, for me to recommend a TRT clinician, I have to be fully satisfied that the clinician is (1) very knowledgeable, (2) highly experienced, (3) compassionate, and (4) ethical beyond question. Moreover, (5) I have to have actually seen that individual in the clinical setting working with his or her own patients. Keeping all five criteria in mind, the closest TRT clinician to your location whom I would unconditionally recommend is Dr. Paula Schwartz in Edina, Minnesota (just outside Minneapolis). Given the distance involved, should you wish to see Dr. Schwartz, your follow-up visits could be accomplished by phone or Skype. Other possibilities would be Dr. Gail Brenner in Philadelphia, and - if you really want to scrape the bottom of the barrel! - there's always me in Atlanta. Point is, regardless of whom you choose, you would only need to actually make the trip one time.

Hope this helps.

Dr Nagler, thank you for your reply.  I am sure that you are not "bottom of the barrel" and if distance didn't matter, you would be my first choice.
